Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
The Serengeti is the quintessential African safari destination and one of the best African national parks for first-time and seasoned travellers alike. Sanjar describes it as the place where the Great Migration becomes theatre, and that is exactly right: over a million wildebeest and zebra move across the plains in one of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife spectacles.
The best time to visit the Serengeti depends on what you want to see. For the famous Mara River crossings, travel between July and October. For the calving season, the southern Serengeti is best from January to February. The shoulder season is generally November to early December and March to May, when the crowds are smaller and the landscape turns greener.

The best time to visit the Okavango Delta is June to October, when the floodwaters are at their peak and water-based safaris are at their best.
